# THE CHITTAGONG HILL-TRACTS SARAIS REGULATION, 1951
> A Regulation to apply the Sarais Act, 1867 , to the Chittagong Hill-tracts;

W HEREAS it is expedient to apply the [Sarais Act, 1867](/laws/act-18 "Act 18") , to the Chittagong Hill-tracts;
A ND WHEREAS by sub-section (2) of section 92 of the Government of India Act, 1935, as adapted by the Pakistan (Provisional Constitution) Order, 1947, the 1 \[Government] is empowered to make regulations for the peace and good Government of any area in his Province which is for the time being an excluded area, or a partially excluded area;
N OW , THEREFORE , the 2 \[Government], in exercise of the said powers and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, is pleased to make the following Regulation:-
### Short title and commencement
1. (1) This Regulation may be called [THE CHITTAGONG HILL-TRACTS SARAIS REGULATION, 1951](/laws/act-1345 "Act 1345") .
(2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the *Official Gazette.*
### Application of Act XXII of 1867 to the Chittagong Hill- tracts
**2.** The [Sarais Act, 1867](/laws/act-18 "Act 18") , shall apply to the Chittagong Hill-tracts.
