I OF 1953 W HEREAS it is expedient to apply to the Chittagong Hill- tracts certain Central Acts relating to tariff and customs; A ND WHEREAS by sub-section (2) of section 92 of the Government of India Act, 1935, the 1 [Government] is empowered to make regulations for the peace and good Government of any area in his Province which is for the time being an excluded, or a partially excluded area; N OW , T HEREFORE , the 2 [Government], in exercise of the said powers and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, is pleased to make the following Regulation, namely:-

Short title and commencement

1. (1) This Regulation may be called THE CHITTAGONG HILL-TRACTS (TARIFF AND CUSTOMS) REGULATION, 1952 . (2) It shall come into force at once.

Application of certain Central Acts to the Chittagong Hill-tracts

2. (1) The enactments specified in Schedule I annexed hereto shall, subject to the amendments mentioned in the fourth column thereof, apply to the Chittagong Hill-tracts. (2) The enactment specified in Schedule II annexed hereto shall, to the extent mentioned in the fourth column thereof, apply to the Chittagong Hill-tracts.
