Status: Active Date of Publication: 12th April, 1955 Act No: EAST BENGAL REGULATION NO. II OF 1955 WHEREAS it is expedient to apply the Bengal Criminal Law (Industrial Areas) Amendment Act, 1942, to the Chittagong Hill-tracts; AND WHEREAS by sub-section (2) of section 92 of the Government of India Act, 1935, the 1 [Government] is empowered to make regulations for the peace and good Government of any area in which is for the time being an excluded area, or a partially excluded area; NOW, THEREFORE, the 2 [Government], in exercise of the said powers and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, is pleased to make the following Regulation:-

Short title and commencement

1. (1) This Regulation may be called THE CHITTAGONG HILL-TRACTS CRIMINAL LAW (INDUSTRIAL AREAS) REGULATION, 1955 . (2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

Application of Bengal Act IV of 1942 to the Chittagong Hill- tracts

2. The 3 [***] Criminal Law (Industrial Areas) Amendment Act, 1942, shall subject to the following modifications, apply to the Chittagong Hill-tracts:- Sub-section (2) of section 1 and section 2 shall be omitted.
