Preamble

WHEREAS it is expedient to apply the Bengal Criminal Law (Industrial Areas) Amendment Act, 1942, to the Chittagong Hill-tracts; AND WHEREAS by sub-section (2) of section 92 of the Government of India Act, 1935, the [1][Government] is empowered to make regulations for the peace and good Government of any area in which is for the time being an excluded area, or a partially excluded area; NOW, THEREFORE, the [2][Government], in exercise of the said powers and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, is pleased to make the following Regulation:-

Sections/Articles

Short title and commencement

  1. (1) This Regulation may be called THE CHITTAGONG HILL-TRACTS CRIMINAL LAW (INDUSTRIAL AREAS) REGULATION, 1955.
    (2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

Application of Bengal Act IV of 1942 to the Chittagong Hill- tracts

  1. The 3[***] Criminal Law (Industrial Areas) Amendment Act, 1942, shall subject to the following modifications, apply to the Chittagong Hill-tracts:-
Sub-section (2) of section 1 and section 2 shall be omitted.
