Status: Active Date of Publication: 6th August, 1954 Act No: EAST BENGAL REGULATION NO. II OF 1954 WHEREAS it is expedient to apply to the Chittagong Hill-tracts certain enactments regulating labour, trade union and industrial disputes, payment of wages and compensation and employment of women and children in factories and industries; AND WHEREAS by sub-section (2) of section 92 of the Government of India act, 1935, the 1 [Government] is empowered to make regulations for the peace and good Government of any area in which is for the time being an excluded or a partially excluded area; NOW, THEREFORE, the 2 [Government], in exercise of the said powers and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, is pleased to make the following Regulation, namely:-

Short title and commencement

1. (1) This Regulation may be called THE CHITTAGONG HILL-TRACTS (LABOUR LAWS) REGULATION, 1954 .

Application of certain enactments to the Chittagong Hill- tracts

2. The enactments specified in the Schedule annexed hereto shall, subject to the amendments mentioned in the fourth column thereof, apply to the Chittagong Hill-tracts;
